Newbie in SCCM. A colleague and myself built a test platform with a DC, an SCCM server and an XP computer. We followed a video from Technet (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/video/automating-windows-7-deployment-with-sccm-2007-r2-sp2-part-5-of-5) to define the process. Everything went smoothly: build packages and images, build task sequence and advertised it. We got the advertisement on the XP and pressed Run. After few seconds we got an error "Cannot run program". 10nx, Niall. I checked previously on the client for the specific LOG file, in %Windir%\System32\CCM\logs. It wasn't there. I searched the whole client's disk for the SMSTS.Log, the file was not created (I checked that the system and hidden files are also displayed on all folders). On my previous attempts to deply, I didn't even get to the PXE stage. ok well if it's failing while still in windows have you double checked that the smsts.log file (or variations of it) are not present anywhere on the disc ? the below locations specify where it will be If the task sequence completes when running in the full operating system with a Configuration Manager 2007 client installed on the computer: <CCM Install Dir>\Logs If the task sequence completes when running in the full operating system with no Configuration Manager 2007 client installed on the computer: %Temp%\SMSTSLOG please double check the entire disc for the presence of the smsts.log ( In those directories you'll find a log file named (for example) smsts-20081125-122856.log, the actual name of the file will change based on the date/time that you do the deployment.) as regards content request failure, this means that it cannot find needed content (which has been specified in the task sequence) in order to continue, for various reasons which could be * you forgot to distribute the package/image/driver/boot image to the distribution points * you specified the network access account incorrectly but without the smsts.log to help us we'd only be guesing, so please do look again ok ? Hi, Niall. I'll start by saying that the problem was solved. After your first post, I read the link you gave about troubleshooting and I was puzzled I did not find the log file in any of those locations. This, together with your list of "various reasons" from the last post and the fact the PXE stage was not reached, got me to the conclusion that something night be bad with the boot image. So, I started the process again: updated the boot image package to the DP, created a new Task Sequence and advertised it. The client pop-ed up, I ran the task and voila! it worked :) Thanks for all the assistance!
